Common memory foam mattress problems

Foam mattresses have emerged as the best in terms of comfort and especially if one can invest in the best quality available in the market. While there are some mattress that come cheaper, their effect is always unpleasant and therefore poor quality mattresses should be avoided at all cost. Memory foam mattresses have many benefits but it would also be untrue to say that there are no common problems that have been reported by different users over the past years.

Below are some common memory foam mattress problems

1.       They are temperature sensitive: - One of the commonest problems that many people have reported is that these mattresses are sensitive to temperature and therefore they readily react. In common cases, these mattresses become hard and cold during the cold winter seasons or when used in colder rooms while during the colder seasons and environments they turn softer and squishy. It is important to choose the right level of firmness during your purchase and this will be highly determined by personal preference. However, you can avoid his problem by buying a mattress that has 5LB or more in density.

2.       High cost: - This can stand out as a major problem among many would-be buyers although not a problem based on quality. The cost of quality memory foam mattresses is approximately $500 to $4000 and this acts as a major hindrance for many prospective buyers. However, the quality and durability of these mattresses highly justifies the cost.

3.       Odor: - memory foam mattresses are made from polyurethane substance which is a form of chemical substance and thus produce a strong odor and especially when new. Although this smell is harmless, many people find it to be too strong during the early days but it will disappear with time. The remedy for this will be to unpack the mattress immediately you get home and allow it to air for a few days before you start using it. In addition, buying a high quality mattress will help as the odor from such normally disappears within a few days.

4.       Weight issues: - These mattresses are denser in comparison to many other mattresses and this is a common memory foam mattress problem that many people have to contend with. This should now worry you much especially because mattresses are not meant to be carried around every other day. This problem can be solved by buying your mattress from a dealer who will deliver the package to your home thus easing the problem with weight for you.

5.       Flammability: - Many memory foam mattress users are concerned about the flammability of chemicals or materials used in manufacturing the mattresses. However, there are regulations in place and which are meant to reduce flammability of mattresses something that should help diminish these fears. Many manufacturers normally use safe flammability retarding agents which are not only safe for your health but also best in case of a fire. In fact, memory foam mattresses use safer retardants when compared with those used in spring mattresses.
